The "Try IT" sessions were a great success with a number of new members signing up.

We practice every Tuesday and Thursday. We gather at 6pm at the Shingle Mill dock, in the boat at 6.30pm, we practice till 8pm.

The Pearl Warriors Dragon Boat team of Powell River consists of both MEN and WOMEN of all ages in a dragon boat that holds 20 people.

The Silver Dragons is a mixed team of age 55 plus.

Powell River’s Senior Dragon Boat Team

The Powell River Senior Dragon Boat team originally formed in 2007 for one purpose – to compete in the B.C. Senior Games. A senior team came together again for the 2010 B.C. Senior Games. A number of the senior team members expressed a wish to form a permanent team which would continue throughout the year. The winter months would be for dryland training and spring and summer months for paddling on the water.

In December of 2010 the Silver Dragons Senior Dragon Boat Team became a member of the Powell River Dragon Boat and Paddling Club/Society. The senior team competes in various festivals over the spring and summer racing season as well as the B.C. Senior Games.

The ‘Silver Dragons’ came together to help promote a healthy lifestyle for seniors. There are no restrictions on health or fitness level. If you can hold a paddle, enjoy exercising outdoors and would like to try a team sport, dragon boating may be just what you are looking for.

The senior team is open to both men and women 55 years of age and over.
